Greenwich Peninsula, London
London has got a much needed river crossing between the Royal Docks and the Greenwich peninsula, with the city’s first urban cable car. The Mayor has secured a ten-year £36m sponsorship deal for the new cable car with Emirates Airline.
The cable car will be known as the ‘Emirates Air Line’ and create a new connection between north and south London as it travels between the new stations of Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and Emirates Royal Docks.
The car is the first in a series of improvements to east London’s river crossings, and is part of a range of measures to transform the area into a hive of new business, entertainment and leisure, supported by world-class transportation.
The North Station in the Royal Victoria Dock is in east London while the South Station in Greenwich is in south-east London.
